Russia stages overnight drone attack on Ukrainian capital
Russia stages overnight drone attack on Ukrainian capital: Russia fired over three dozen drones at Kyiv early Sunday, causing explosives to reverberate throughout the Ukrainian capital and surrounding area for around two hours and debris to fall across multiple city districts, according to Ukrainian authorities.
Explosions from air defenses engaging targets lit the night sky, and bangs could be heard across the city. At least one smoke plume was seen rising from between buildings.
Liudmyla, a Kyiv resident, claimed she heard the buzzing of the Iranian-made drones before a blast wave broke her building’s windows and the jars on her ledge.
According to the state emergency service, debris fell in three separate areas, but there was no major damage. Four others were also injured, according to Kyiv authorities.
The midnight attacks, according to Regional Governor Ruslan Kravchenko, destroyed an undisclosed infrastructure site and eight dwellings.
Ukraine’s air force claimed it destroyed 26 of Russia’s 33 drones, all of which were aimed towards Kyiv and the surrounding area.
Russia made no immediate response to the assaults. Moscow has carried out frequent air assaults on Ukrainian populated centers distant from the 18-month-old invasion’s eastern and southern front lines.
According to Ukrainian authorities, a Russian assault killed 17 people in the eastern city of Kostiantynivka on Wednesday.
